Argyll Kayaks is a family owned business based in Ardrishaig on the shores of Loch Fyne where the Crinan Canal meets the sea. Formerly known as KariTek, we asked owner Ann Shand to tell us the story about how the new name came about.
Ann told us "Since moving to Argyll a few years back and securing this fantastic shop location at Scottish Canal's Maritime Hub in Ardrishaig, we've realised just how much potential there is for watersports activities - Loch Gilp, Loch Fyne, Loch Sween, the sound of Jura and beyond.
Coming from a sea kayaking and open canoeing background we were keen to continue to provide the very best customer service in all things kayaking - sea kayaks, paddles, kit and boat handling roof racks and cradles. The time is now right to work towards providing a broader service to watersports and outdoor enthusiasts living in, and visiting, this fantastic area. In addition to sea kayaking, the area is perfect for paddle boarding and recreational paddling to name but a few. The new look and name change sums up our love for Argyll and the amazing kayaking right on our doorsteps. We hope you like the new look and we are so looking forward to meeting customers old and new this summer."
Located on the shores of Loch Fyne at the entrance to the Crinan Canal - Scotland’s most beautiful shortcut - Argyll Kayaks' shop is also right on the Argyll Sea Kayak Trail. Just over 2 hours drive from Glasgow, the shop is well placed for access to many great kayaking opportunities on the Argyll coast. And as part of the lochside Maritime Hub, the shop is adjacent to the excellent Steamer Terminal cafe and the new Egg Shed maritime museum and community space, worth a visit in their own right.
